Makeup Review: Etude House Color My Brows (#5 Blondie Brown)

Blonde hair is such a pain in the eyebrows.
When I was planning my Kisshou cosplay, I knew that his blonde hair would be difficult for me because for one, to match the golden hair, I need to have a slightly lighter complexion. (Which I achieved with tons of sunblock, a black umbrella and a wonderful BB cream.) Another pain was his eyebrows.

After tedious research, I found that one of the easiest ways to color your eyebrows lighter is using eyebrow mascara, so I immediately researched on the lightest shades to match blonde. As a result, I came across Etude House's Color My Brows in #5 Blondie Brown.

It's actually one of the two new shades released for the eyebrow mascara line they have, which I think is great because they're actually expanding their horizon. It's quite troublesome to have different colored hair with black eyebrows, making it obvious that your hair is dyed/you're wearing a wig and overall, it doesn't really look nice.

The packaging looks like a mini-leaflet type with the eyebrow mascara squeezed between the two pages.

Here's what it says on the back:
Brow mascara combs to set, shade and moisten brows for a refined natural look.
[Directions] Use wand to gather makeup and apply to brows by combing along the direction of growth

Once you open it, you can find the mascara snugly packed inside with (I assume) directions and product descriptions written inside.

The mascara itself is a little smaller than I expected it to be, making it handier and much more easy to carry around. It contains 4.5g of the product.

The wand is short for a much more precise application, and the brush itself is a little like a diamond shape. The tip isn't that pointed, but it's thin enough to get the smaller hairs on my eyebrow. I think the wand reaches about three-fourths into the container.

The formula itself is leaning towards the liquid type. It doesn't have a smell, and the texture kinda reminds me of the liquid concealer I also bought from Etude House.

Before
After
The color is more like a yellowish light brown, and it doesn't have sparkles in it at all. It doesn't feel harsh on eyebrows, it doesn't make my eyebrow hairs too stiff and it feels kinda light so I can still move my eyebrow freely.

It really stays on for a long amount of time, and it also helps keeping my eyebrow shape in place. It's not waterproof, but it can withstand a considerable amount of time even when I'm sweating.

The thing with my eyebrows is that it's kinda thick (I don't shave them) and it takes quite a lot of the product to color my eyebrows completely. But I guess if you have thinner eyebrows, a few brushes ought to get it. :)

I like using this along with a brown eyebrow pencil so that it's more natural and it's easier to get the eyebrow shape that I want.

Likes:
  • Very easy to use, easy to carry around
  • Stays on for hours
  • Very pigmented and matte
  • Comfortable to wear
  • Doesn't clump up my eyebrow hairs

The only complaint I have about this product is that it doesn't hold its yellow-brown color for long. I wore this eyebrow mascara during Ozine Fest 2014, and it somehow became a darker brown color by the end of the day.

I like using this over brown eyebrow pencil for a more natural finish.

Overall:
Quality: 4/5
Price: 5/5 - For Php348 ($7.95) I think this is a pretty good catch.
Packaging: 5/5

Repurchase? Yes! This is totally helpful and it matches light-colored hair perfectly. I recommend that you give this a shot, along with the other shades. :)

If you didn't notice, I updated my blog's layout! Although I liked the old layout (it was pretty cool), it looked sort of too dark for me so I reverted into a simple, fresh and clean-looking layout! What are your thoughts about it? Let me know. :)

Many thanks for reading this post. Bye bye~
